After some long flights (with members coming from as far away as France) the group is all together in Quito, Ecuador! Guides Jaime Avila and Esteban Mena met the group and have already done gear checks, and now the focus is acclimatizing (Quito sits at 9,000 feet so the team’s acclimatization begins immediately) and seeing this incredible city! As well as great views of the volcanoes that surround Quito (Cotopaxi, Cayambe, Antisana, and the Pinchinchas), there are also countless colonial churches, cobble stoned streets, and open air plazas to explore. The team will spend the next 2 days seeing the city and climbing their first peak, Rucu Pinchincha, which sits just outside the city’s borders. Stay tuned!
