The Ecuador team just checked in to report they were down safe from their summit attempt. Unfortunately, tough weather conditions prevented them from reaching the summit just about 300 meters from the top. Another update from the Ecuador team just in. Jaime and Daniel summited Illiniza Norte two days ago. They spent one night at the Illinizas hut and completed their climb to 16,818 foot summit the following day. Congratulations! Our 2011 Ecuador team had enormous success. After perfect conditions and weather on Cotopaxi, they had a similar scene on Cayambe with all members of this strong, fast team gaining the summit. After celebrating in Quito, Jacques, Nik, and Jaime made their way to Argentina, where they are beginning their attempt on Aconcagua. Stay tuned...

The Ecuador Expedition has been making the most of their rest days after summiting Cotopaxi. Shopping South America's largest indigenous weekly market (Otovalo) and exploring tropical waterfalls. Tomorrow its "back to work" as the group heads to Cayambe!
