Adrian just called from the satellite phone to tell me that he was sitting on the summit of Pequeno Alpamayo with the full Bolivia team all wearing shorts and t-shirts. Apparently the weather has been perfect. Great news!-Adrian B. via satellite phone

Alpenglow’s first trip to Bolivia is in the mountains and we are happy to be here.In town we experienced all of the classic Bolivian challenges—lost luggage, missed flight connections, and road blocks caused by strikes. The 2005 “Alpamayo and Quitaraju” Team did us proud this season. When we realized that Alpamayo was not climbable (a massive cornice overhung the SW face routes), we set a very ambitious plan for the group – acclimatize quickly on Tocllaraju and then make an attempt on the massive face of Artesonraju! Adrian just called via satellite phone to say that all six team members summited on yet another beautiful day. Adrian said the climb was very challenging and that the whole group was proud to have stood on the summit. They are headed down for a rest day and then back up to attempt Artesonraju.
