Adrian Ballinger was awarded the Chad Vander Ham Memorial Fund for 2008. To honor Chad’s memory and spirit, his family and friends have established a memorial fund in his name through the AMGA. The intent of this fund is to support future aspiring ski guides pursuing training and certification in the ski discipline through the AMGA. All 9 members of our team successfully summited Mt Kilimanjaro. The weather threw some heavy winds and cold temperatures at them, so they stayed only long enough to savour the moment of triumph, after all the effort each person put in to get there. Our team just called in to say that they have reached today’s 15,700ft goal, and they are settled into camp to sleep there tonight. Tomorrow (Saturday) will be a day to rest and complete acclimatization, then Sunday should be the summit attempt. All are reported fit and happy, and raring to go for the summit!
