Let the Manaslu dispatches begin! We have been in Nepal for 5 rainy days now, and I am excited to report things are really getting going now. Yesterday we left Kathmandu and said goodbye to espresso machines, fast easy internet, and afternoons at the pool. It is time to go climbing! We took a short 40 minute flight in our own private 12-seater prop plane to the town of Pokhara in Western Nepal....

Time is moving quickly this summer, and I am already in Kathmandu preparing for the start of our expedition to Manaslu, the world’s eigth tallest peak. Check back in the next day or two for updates as we travel from Kathmandu to our basecamp, first by small prop plane, then helicopter, then foot. Carlos Amy and IFMGA/AMGA certified guide Matt Farmer had a successful summit of Mt. Blanc earlier in the week. Now Adrian is in Chamonix with Desiree Dubon, who (despite recent hand surgery) is climbing hard. They climbed (& acclimatized) off of Index lift yesterday and are headed up to the Cosmiques hut tomorrow. Apparently they have some bad weather is ahead, so we hope they can get a...
