What better place to write about climbing Kilimanjaro than sitting in the Ngorongoro Serena Lodge staring out at the crater and the countless animals roaming inside. The team is safely back at 10,000 ft resting for the night. It was a long day that was heightened by the severe rainstorms on the way down. They are drenched but very happy to have summited!

Just heard from Adrian that all seven climbers reached the summit of Kilimanjaro via the ‘Western Breach Wall’, the most technical ascent of the peak. They had the route to themselves and were all very happy. What a great way to start the New Year! Now they get to descend and head off on their safari!

The team is at 16,000 ft now and is set up to climb to the summit arriving our tonight… wish them clear skies and a warm night! Will post more when we hear that they have summited.

The team made it to the Lava Tower (15,000 ft) and were watching a stunning sunset as the clouds were parting. The group is feeling great and ready to head up the Arrow Glacier to 16,000 ft tomorrow. stay tuned!
