The latest word is that the weather has improved and our group of climbers have all successfully trekked out to Lukla and are flying from there to Kathmandu and on. For them, Everest 2009 is complete and a great success.

Today, May 27th, was expected to see our climbers departing from Everest Base Camp, while the guides and Sherpa continued the cleanup process on the mountain. Our second team of climbers have just reported a 100% success rate at the summit, and have returned back down as far as Camp 2. They had 11 climbers + 4 guides + 11 Sherpa, all of whom achieved the summit goal on May 23rd, from 9am on. Received a text message from the satellite phone, saying that our first team of 11 climbers, 3 guides and 12 Sherpa are all safely back at Base Camp. Whew! We’re breathing again!

9 climbers, 3 guides and 12 Sherpa from our team made it to the top of the world. The fastest were there by 6am May 21st local (5:15pm PST May 20th), with all the others achieving it over the next 3 hours or so. The first of our members are already back in Camp 4 now (8:30 am local), with the rest descending as we write.
