Alpamayo Expedition Begins Today

Two mountaineers navigating a glacier on a Gasherbrum II Expedition

It’s finally here! For the 10 members of Alpenglow Expeditions’ Alpamayo Team, it is time to climb. They have been training for months, organizing gear and logistics for weeks, and traveling by plane and then bus for at least the past 24 hours. But finally the team gathers together here in Huaraz, Peru today. We will spend the next 16 days attempting two of Peru’s most famous, technical, and beautiful peaks – Alpamayo and Quitaraju. The summits of both sit just below 20,000 feet, and are reached by technical ice-climbing routes up their steep faces.

Keep an eye here for updates throughout the expedition. Peru and these peaks guarantee to send plenty of unexpected challenges our way
