Ama Dablam – New Route Continues

Two mountaineers navigating a glacier on a Gasherbrum II Expedition

The latest news from Ama Dablam sees our team once again heading for their rest after a busy day, and looking forward to an even more active one tomorrow. Camp 2.7 has been successfully built, and our members from there are now back at C1. At 6am tomorrow (Thursday 30th), Adrian and our sherpa team will be joined by Justin from IMG and a sherpa from Henry Todd’s team, to set the new route on the right of the Dablam.

The weather continues to be the stunningly beautiful bright blue skies with full sunshine, that are typical at high altitudes when you’re lucky enough to get an entrenched high pressure system. There has been no precipitation of any kind to slow our work, and only two cloudy days in the last month. The first half of the team is still aiming for a summit bid on the 31st, with the second half planning their attempt on November 1st. The way the teams have split is that our first group is 7 climbers, including our 3 climbers from Aspen and the contingent from Vermont. The second team is 5 climbers, including our DC contingent and our member from the Netherlands.

Stay tuned for the latest updates!
