Himalayan Experience is back on Manaslu, which will be the company’s fourth season on the world’s eight highest mountains. Last year, Russell Brice and his team put seven clients, seven Sherpas and three mountain guides on top of the 8,163m peak.

At the end of a very successful Peru season for Alpenglow and our clients, Jaime and Gordon were, unfortunately, faced with a difficult decision about their summit bid on Huascaran. They wound up making the call to turn around despite feeling physically strong, mentally prepared, and having clear weather. There was fresh debris from serac fall at 6300 meters and more blocks were waiting to come down. The two kept their wits about them and opted out of the high level of risk that came with the hazardous terrain.

After a successful summit of Pisco and an excellent effort on Chopicalqui, our team has some great memories of a few weeks in the Cordillera Blanca. As they arrive home, another team has arrived in Huaraz to begin their mission, beginning with an attempt of Alpamayo's French Direct Route. Stay tuned.

Khumjung Main Square turns into Cricket Pitch

After two extremely successful programs in January (Ecuador and Argentina), our clients and guides have gone their separate ways. Callum returned to real life in California, Nik is enjoying a little more time in Mendoza, Jacques has headed to Tierra del Fuego, and Jaime is en route home to Ecuador! Their last day in Argentina together, Jaime, Jacques and Nik had a relaxing day on horseback. Nothing like a little leisure after a lot of hard work!

The team is back in basecamp (Plaza de Mulas) enjoying Cokes and homemade pizza from our local cook. Last night was cold and windy at high camp so the group was especially excited to get down. They timed their summit perfectly on the last calm day before big winds came to Aconcagua. The walk all the way to basecamp was a long one with heavy packs, so the team is enjoying the good food and comfortable camp. Tomorrow, they plan to get moving early and hike all the way out.
