The Aconcagua team tagged C2 yesterday with ease and came back down to C1 for today's rest day. All are feeling remarkably strong and now, all that remains is finding a sufficient weather window on this notoriously windy mountain! We'll keep you posted as they check in for forecasts and make their decision on the best time to line up a summit bid.

Got word from Adrian at C3 this morning. His group (the second group) will head up to C4 tomorrow, while Group 1 is at C4 and going for their summit tonight.

On Sunday morning, Jaime and Gordon left Huaraz for Musho to begin their climb of Huascaran. Below are the details they gave us of their time on Alpamayo, including photographs. We will be hearing more from them on Huascaran soon.

Jaime and Gordon will spend the night at base camp before returning to Huaraz after climbing to the summit of Alpamayo yesterday! They felt strong during their nine hour day despite the 5 hours of snowy weather they endured on their climb. We look forward to hearing a detailed account of their climb and will share it here as soon as possible.

After sadly saying goodbye to a teammate who had to leave the expedition early, Jaime and Gordon pressed on to high camp from Moraine Camp today with very large loads on their backs and under heavy snowfall. Depending on the forecast, they will proceed for a summit bid or wait out some weather. Stay tuned...

We just thought we'd post a snapshot of Mike Stone and Will Renner on the summit of Pisco. There will be more to come. Right now they are back in town enjoying a well-deserved breakfast after high winds turned them around on Chopicalqui.

Summit Success

On Friday, 20 May, 2011, eight Himalayan Experience clients, three guides and 10 Sherpas reached the top of the world between 5.50am and 7am. “The weather was great and fortunately the team did not have to deal with a lot of wind,” Russell said looking tired after having been up for most of the night following his team on the radio.

I just got off the phone with an elated Adrian from Camp IV at the South Col. He and all of those remaining on the Himex team have just summited Mount Everest! After high winds turned many teams around from summit bids yesterday, today was lining up to be quite busy. With Phurba Tashi and Adrian breaking trail and a very strong Himex team behind them, the Sherpas were able to short rope the members, passing the lineup on the fixed ropes, and enabling the Himex team to enjoy the summit without the crowd.
