Expedition Difficulty Levels

Trekking

 

No technical climbing or backpacking experience is necessary. It is important, however, that you are in good physical shape, and able to hike in rugged terrain for several hours each day. We are happy to detail physical training programs as needed to get you ready for our treks.

 

Introductory

 

No technical climbing or altitude experience is necessary. It is imperative, however, that you are in good physical shape, and able to hike in rugged terrain for long days. We are happy to detail physical and technical training programs as needed to get you ready for our introductory expeditions.

 

Intermediate

 

Prior roped climbing, cramponing, and ice axe skills are required. It is recommended that participants have either climbed/ trekked at altitude (over 15,000 feet) It is imperative that you are in excellent physical shape. We are happy to detail training programs as needed to get you ready for this expedition.

 

Advanced (technical)

 

Climbers should have experience multi-pitch climbing (rock or ice), be comfortable following grade 4 ice climbs, 5.9 rock climbs, and have climbed at altitude (over 15,000 feet).

**Ama Dablam, Alpamayo

 

Advanced (8000 meter peaks)

 

Must be able to climb moderate rock, ice, and snow terrain, often with an alpine pack on your back. You should be comfortable with camp craft in high-altitude camps, and able to perform at a high level for multiple days in a row at altitude. Prior ascents of multiple 6000-7000 meter peaks is strongly recommended.
